In-Depth Photo Illustrations
The staged illustration- i think its a staged photo because u know the lady is not dead and put here there to take this photo. its just an act and thats why i like this image.
The photo made into art- its art because this image was put together to say somehting along the lines of violence isnt the answer and u can tell because of the backround and the flowe comein out of the gun.The photo realist
ic alteration- u can tell this image was put together with other images to make a statement and its unethical distortions of the truth. i like it cause theres so much goin on.

I like the second photo because i like the angle its shot at. You can see the main buildings in austin through the tall thingy. It has a really good focus u can see the whole senery in the photo. also the exposure is kewl because you can look at the shadow and light clearly so there might have been a low shutter speed.

Dustin snipes
the notes strengths were he had good pictures, got a picture of everyone doin something, wicture with moments.
the noted weakness, what that he used photo shop.
i saw strengths that this guy goes in the middle of it to get his shot and he find emotion.
i couldnt find any weeknesses.
contest recap
They went through many phots argueing and puttin in their own opinions on it. Tryin to find a portfolio on diversity and good photos all the way through. and even though the winner had all sports it was the best one.
Individual Images
i agree that the photo with rugbee players that it should be in number one spot. its a photo of players and the guy with the ball is getting chased, and the man holdin the ball has anoter player grabbing him and it looks as if his fingure is in his eye. it has good emiotion.
i disagree with the photo of the hocky players gettin second place. Because there could be more. what happened after the player got hit? u dont see and of their faces. the boxing player photo should have came in second.

the "As I Grew Older: poem was one of my favorites form what i read.
i like it because he shows a reality of what gettin older does. you lose what u were and you want to go back. but thats what growin old is all about.
Ingrid Bergman at Stromboli
1949
was a realy good photo beacuse it shows the womens emotions and blurrs out the three women in the back stareing at her what seems like there judgeing what they do not know.

Cover History
1. Early Magazine Covers
The early magizine covers were ALOT more plane that what we see now. if we saw it not knowin it was a magizine cover, wed think it got riped off and we were seeing the table of contents. The covers in the 1800s to the 1700s tended to modle the cover off of book covers. all it had was a title and a punlication title. there was no description on what the magizine was about so ur lookin at it not knowin what its even about.
2. The Poster Cover
the poster covers started comein out in the 1890s to the 1960s. the poster cover dominated the field at the time and it produced so many memorbial covers on issues of the time. the covers were sometimes over sized and tended to look like it was printed and u should hang it onthe wall. there was no cover lines or a theme. Its ushaly a big artistic picture with a statement with mayve a few words and the cover name.
3. Pictures Married to Type
A cover type usushaly has a large title with the models face overlappin the model needs to have a full body pose. The cover lines on all sides of her are carefully positioned in with the model and the backround.this stared to make what we see in covers not. it has text around the model or subject and gives u a hint of what you r goin to read about in the magizine.

fashion ethics.
after seeing the video i though it was all unethical because they just edited that photo to where that looked like a total different person. The only ethincal thing they could have done to here phote was change the lighting. the make up didnt really mean anything but, they lifted he neck and changed here eyes and telling peopl that this is BEAUTY.
This isnt the worst thing that has been done when it comes to altering photos.
i think its ok to change the lighting to make the photo even and look nice. Its not ok to change her face and make her neck taller here eyes bigger, that was wrong.
the differences are between fashion photography and photojournalism is that fashion is changeing reality to make people want to be just liek that. photojournalism is trying to capture a moment and tell as much truth as possible and tell a story.

absolute/situational?
After watchin the dove video and all the photos that have been changed, im starting to go wtih absolute. They alter things to an unatural beliefe and changeing the truth.
A photo can capture a part of teh truth. not the entire truth because your not showing how that person or situation realy is. but u are capturing a time and moment for ppl to see. like with the war in iraq. that is telling some part of truth to the people that cant see it.
in the edit reality, its difficult.. ive learned that there is a thin line when it comes to the edit reality. by cropin your changing how much the person can see, and by takeing things our of the picture that just altering the truth.
Its important that the news organizations have clearly defined ethical standerds because there trying to tell as much of the truth as possible and want to stick to what is going on. there not altering reality.

first real photojournalism assignment
Doin this photo shoot was difficult because most of the students that i was shooting dint want to have a picture taken of them and once they got used to me in the room they got over it. And it was a good place to get an academic shoot because they were doin a lab in biology and it was funny captering their emotion of how attched some of the stuedents were to the eggs they were goin the experment on..?
i had some problems withthe lightin and left wondering if i had the setting right on the camera so i could get a good picture in the end. And i wanted to try to fill the frame as much as possible with what was goin on and attemped to rule of three which i dont understand so i dont think that worked. Other than that it was a good and fun first shoot on my own.
